2022 cycles
The Winter 2022 – Human Services cycle will open on November 15, 2021 and will close on December 15, 2021.

The Spring 2022 – Environmental cycle will open on March 15, 2022 and will close on April 15, 2022.

The Fall 2022 – Arts cycle will open on July 15, 2022 and will close on August 15, 2022.

About Us

Since 1997, the Lily Auchincloss Foundation has been providing grants to help promote the quality of life in New York City. We support organizations working in the arts, human services, and environment within the five boroughs of New York City. The organization provides Foundation Grants and Discretionary Awards.

Foundation Grants

There are three categories of foundation grants — each category has its own cycle and application deadline that occurs once per year: the Spring Cycle for Environmental, the Fall Cycle for the Arts, and the Winter Cycle for Human Services.

Discretionary Awards

Discretionary awards are by nomination only by members of the Board of Directors. You will be notified if your organization has been nominated for a discretionary award.

Grant categories have individual seasonal cycles and application deadlines that occur once per year.

December 15 – Winter Cycle for Human Services

April 15 – Spring Cycle for Environmental grants

July 15  – Fall Cycle for the Arts

Cycles and Deadlines

2020 news and Covid-19
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the environmental cycle due on April 15, 2020 was cancelled. The foundation continued to focus on emergency funding, by board decision and nomination only, in human services, food and the environment in NYC.

The Lily Auchincloss Foundation partnered with the following funders and consortiums. Please visit each fund’s web site for additional information and application guidelines.

New York Community Trust’s Covid-19 Response & Impact Fund
This fund will provide grants and loans to NYC-based organizations in response to the city’s urgent needs at this challenging time, with an emphasis on human services and arts/culture organizations.

United States Artists Relief Fund
The Lily Auchincloss Foundation joined the Artist Relief Fund to support NYC artists during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Artist Relief will distribute $5,000 grants to artists facing dire financial emergencies due to COVID-19; serve as an ongoing informational resource; and co-launch the COVID-19 Impact Survey for Artists and Creative Workers, designed by Americans for the Arts, to better identify and address the needs of artists.

City Parks Foundation’s NYC Green Relief & Recovery Fund
The NYC Green Relief & Recovery Fund will provide support to nonprofits and community groups that provide essential maintenance, stewardship, public programming, and management of parks and open spaces across the five boroughs of New York City.

In addition, the Lily Auchincloss Foundation is a member of the Community Food Funders, a project of North Star Fund. The Community Food Funders is actively compiling resources related to food and farming systems during this critical time. For more information:
